XDefiant was a free-to-play faction first-person shooter developed by Ubisoft and led by Ubisoft San Francisco studio. XDefiant launched as I joined Red Storm Entertainment. The UX/UI team at Red Storm onboarded as co-dev to support Ubisoft San Francisco.
Within my first few weeks at Red Storm, I was using Ubisoft’s proprietary engine, Snowdrop, to support Ubisoft San Francisco. My beginning tasks were bug fixes, mostly for frontend navigation and menus. Localization bugs were my area of focus, which required me to be familiar with and work on numerous screens.
Not long after that, my Red Storm coworker Kit Cavales and I were entrusted with a large amount of the upcoming Faction and Weapon Mastery work. Faction Mastery added new UI within the faction selection screens, along with the ability to preview skin rewards. Weapon Mastery added a new section to the weapon inspection screen, along with celebrations during and after the match.
